Sayyid Hamid Ibraheem Zakzaky was born on Tuesday, January 17, 1992, corresponding to the 13th of Rajab, 1412 Hijri. His birthplace was the Gwarbai neighborhood within Zaria city, Kaduna State, Nigeria.
He was the fourth child of his father, Allamah Ibrahim Zakzaky (h). His lineage is traced through Malam Yaqoub, Malam Aliy, Malam Muhammad Tajuddin, and Liman Husaini. It is said that his family belongs to the progeny (Sulala) of Imam Hasan Al-Mujtaba (AS), which connects back to the Messenger of Allah (S).
Sayyid Hamid began his education from nursery school, progressing through primary and secondary levels. In 2009, he successfully completed his secondary education, earning a certificate that qualified him for university admission.
In 2013, he traveled to China for further studies, enrolling at the University of Xiang to pursue Aeronautical Engineering. During his first year, he received significant commendation from the university, which awarded him an honorary card. This card granted him access throughout the country, a privilege not commonly available even to citizens, highlighting his exceptional status as an international student.
Sayyid Hamid attained martyrdom in 2014 while on holiday, having returned home to Nigeria. This tragic event occurred during the International Quds Day procession. Soldiers of the then-government unjustly attacked and killed him along with his brother, Sayyid Ahmad. They were shot in vital parts of their bodies and subjected to torture, including electric shocks and stabbing with knives, under the pretext that they had blocked a road. His sacrifice in the way of Allah during this period of injustice is remembered.
