Biography

Nasir Abubakar, affectionately known among peers as Manager, was born on 14 April 1997 in Ambarura, Sokoto State. He was the son of Malam Abubakar Usman and the late Malama Fatima Abubakar, who passed away several years before him. Nasir was raised within a large family as the fourth child of his mother, alongside three older siblings and four younger siblings.

Seeking knowledge from an early age, he began his education at the Fudiyya School in Tudun Jukun, Zaria, where he completed his nursery and primary studies. He subsequently proceeded to L.G.E.A. Secondary School, Belbelu, in central Zaria, where he completed his secondary education. In his working life, Nasir was diligent and versatile. He initially worked at a local water processing company and later at a commercial bakery before establishing his own business trading in provisions, foodstuffs, and beverages.

Within the Islamic Movement, Nasir was recognized for his wholehearted dedication, generously committing his time, energy, and resources in the way of Allah. He served actively as a dedicated personnel member of the Jaishu Shahid Ahmad Zakzaky brigade. In his community, Nasir was distinguished by exemplary character, exceptional patience, and forbearance. He was known for forgiving those who wronged him without harboring grievances, and he readily extended assistance to people across all backgrounds, both Muslim and non-Muslim alike.

His service and milestones included:

  • Early Islamic and formal education at Fudiyya Tudun Jukun and L.G.E.A. Secondary School, Belbelu, Zaria

  • Independent enterprise in local foodstuff and beverage provisions

  • Active membership and duty within the Jaishu Shahid Ahmad Zakzaky brigade

  • Service as the frontline flag-bearer during the Abuja International Quds Day procession

On 28 March 2025, during the peaceful annual International Quds Day procession held in Abuja, Nasir was assigned the honor of bearing the flag at the very front of the procession. Before going out, he shared with a close companion that he anticipated attaining martyrdom that day, requesting that upon his martyrdom, his body be brought to Darur Rahma for his companions to bid him a final farewell and lay him to rest. He had also previously chosen a specific photograph to serve as his memorial banner.

As the peaceful procession moved forward, military personnel arrived and opened live fire upon the demonstrators. Nasir was struck in the arm and in the flank, attaining martyrdom on the spot.

“Nasir was an exemplary servant of the cause, characterized by deep sacrifice, devotion to family ties, and relentless kindness toward everyone around him.”
